Truth be told, I love English literature. As a hopeless romantic, I get lost in the language, the way of life, and the strong and eloquent heroines. One of my favorite quotes is, “I try to avoid looking forward or backward, and try to keep looking upward” (Charlotte Bronte). This statement cuts deep. So many of us have travelled rough roads and the probability of being overcome by the pain appears certain… inescapable. Bronte’s statement forces me to remember the depth of my Faith, which surpasses past, present and future circumstances. When the past is overwhelming, the present bleak, and the future unknown, we have a choice as to where we fix our minds. Like the force of gravity, my Faith is what grounds me, causing my mind and heart to look upward. Where do you fix your mind?
