There are numerous words and ways to describe spiritual direction, but the ones that most resonate with me are: holy listening, ministry of presence, discernment, and soul work. Spiritual Direction is a sacred space designed to deepen one's relationship with God. God invites each one of us on a unique and beautiful journey. There are times when the path is clear, and other times when the road feels invisible. In each stage of our faith, I believe there is an invitation from God. My goal is to help you discern that invitation. At its most basic yet profound level, spiritual direction aims to help others experience the love of the Father, develop his/her own love of Jesus, and witness the powerful unfolding of that abundant love.
Pricing and Packages
During our complimentary spiritual direction consultation, I will review pricing and various packages. Spiritual Direction is a soulful space created to explore and deepen one’s relationship with God. Thomas Merton said it best when he stated, “The whole purpose of spiritual direction is to penetrate beneath the surface of a man's life, to get behind the façade of conventional gestures and attitudes which he presents to the world, and to bring out his inner spiritual freedom, his inmost truth, which is what we call the likeness of Christ in his soul (Spiritual Direction and Meditation, p.16, Liturgical Press).” Because spiritual freedom is the ultimate goal, there is less structure in spiritual direction sessions, and more space is given to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. While this method may be less "organized," there is tremendous intentionality given to listening, questioning, and observing. When applicable, life-giving spiritual exercises and practices will be introduced.
We may utilize Life-Mapping and the Enneagram to foster further exploration. Life-Mapping, which is a faith-based program using visual maps, allows directees to understand how their past, present, and future are woven together. Moreover, I am a Certified Advanced Teacher in the Wagner Enneagram Spectrum of Personality Styles and may use WEPPS resources when requested and/or applicable.
Generally, directees will start spiritual direction bi-weekly (every other week) for 6 sessions, then move to monthly sessions. Often, the most transformative experiences occur in between sessions, so it is important to connect regularly, but also allow time and space for the Father to do His work.
Process
Generally, spiritual direction sessions are 45 minute video calls and include quiet reflection, listening, silence (at times, extended), prayer, exploring contemplative practices, and other forms of soul work that aim to deepen one’s relationship with God. There is an underlying belief within this form of ministry that the Holy Spirit is the ultimate Director.
